MAPS is the sister chapter of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA). MAPS fulfills part of the SNMA’s mission to support future underrepresented minority medical students by increasing the number of African-American, Latino and other students of color entering and completing medical school. Through their programming, they support students by connecting their members with community service activities, professional development opportunities, and space to foster appreciation and recognition of diversity. Members of EC’s chapter also have the opportunity to network with current medical school students at IU School of Medicine. EC’s chapter is also open to all minority students interested in health careers, not just medicine.
